The Solatium sofa by Maxalto is part of the Apta collection and offers the possibility of playing with the many configurations available, thanks to the presence of 140 elements that can be combined with each other, in order to obtain always different results that satisfy every need.

Compositional flexibility is therefore the strong point of Solatium, designed by the designer Antonio Citterio, but the possibility of choice also concerns fabrics and leathers, in addition to colors, which can be combined in many different ways to give the modular sofa the character that best fits it, according to the rest of the home environment.

DESIGNER CITTERIO BIOGRAPHY AND WORKS THAT MADE HIM FAMOUS

One of the most important chapters in Maxalto's history is undoubtedly the collaboration, which began in 1993 and is still active today, with Antonio Citterio, a Lombard designer born in 1950 in Meda, a municipality in Brianza that is famous of the design industry, thanks to the presence of various Italian excellences that have become known internationally.

Citterio graduated in architecture in 1975 at the Politecnico di Milano, starting his career with the opening of a studio associated with Terry Dwan, which was a prelude to the foundation of Antonio Citterio and Partners, with offices in Milan and Hamburg, together with Patricia Viel.

Among the works that made Citterio famous in the world of design there is undoubtedly the Sity sofa, designed in 1986 for a project for B&B Italia and awarded the following year with the Compasso d'Oro, a recognition that the designer would later obtain also in 1994 for his Mobil by Kartell drawer system designed together with Oliver Low.

MODULAR SOFA WITH MORE THAN 140 CONFIGURATIONS

Always attentive to combine quality and timeless elegance in its sofas, Maxalto has decided to focus on the contemporary with Solatium, characterized by a compositional flexibility that has few competitors: linear and corner sofas, chaise longue, armrests and backrests of various heights and poufs which made up a range of 140 elements that make possible an infinite number of different configurations, which also allow you to play on the double depth of the available components.

The strict dimensions of the elements are made softer by high-end details; if on the one hand the seats, backrests and armrests convey a clear idea of comfort, thanks to their "swollen" shapes and the padding in differentiated density shaped polyurethane, viscoelastic polyurethane, sterilized down and polyester fiber lining, the structure retains a great geometric precise through the metal profiles with bronzed nickel or black chromed finish.

The internal frame of the Solatium seat is made of tubular and painted steel profiles, panel in multilayer wood, shaped polyurethane with different densities and polyester fiber, while the upholstery of the structure, as well as that of the cushions, includes fabrics and leathers. , which in turn can be combined with textile or leather profiles in order to obtain, according to preferences, solutions with chromatic contrast or a single color.

COMPATIBILITY OF MAXALTO WITH TABLES AND CABINETS

However, the solutions available for those who choose Solatium do not end with sofas, chaise longues or poufs: among the combinable elements that can complete the system there are in fact also tables and consoles, designed in different finishes and shapes, to give an additional touch of refinement.
